The following Scholarships are given to returning students in good academic standing, who exemplify the spirit of Burlington College, and contribute significantly to the Community:
THE FRANK MANCHEL AWARDFor more than half a century, Frank Manchel has been a tireless advocate for the role of film in oublic discourse, and he is one of the leading scholars to recognize the educational opportunities that film studies offers to students. Frank has also been a wonderful friend of Burlington College. In 2006, Frank donated his entire collection of film books, articles and magazines to the Burlington College library. His collection serves as a valuable resource to our Film Studies students and to the community at large. The Frank Manchel Award is given each year to a new or returning student majoring in Cinema Studies and Film Production who otherwise might not be able to pursue their interests and who demonstrates scholarship, talent and aptitude in the field of film and film study.

THE JOSEPH T. POPECKI MEMORIAL AWARDThis award is given each year to a new or returning student who demonstrates our long-time Trustee Joe Popecki's respect and appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship and service to society, and exemplifies a life of caring, generosity and kindness toward others.

THE MARIAN P. HUFFMAN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION AWARD was created by the Huffman family to honor Marian P. Huffman. Marian was a highly independent career woman who valued the need for education and lifelong learning. In her lifetime, she created and built collections for several libraries. More importantly, she encouraged young people to further their potential through education. The Marian Huffman is awarded to a student in good academic standing, with a minimum of 45 credits earned.
This year the award goes to: JOE BASKEWITZ

THE JANE GLASSMAN MEMORIAL AWARD was created to honor the memory of Jane Glassman, who died in 1972, the year Burlington College was founded. It is awarded to a student who displays the qualities she exhibited throughout her life and in her dying - courage, humanity, daring thinking, creativity, honesty and joy.
This year the award goes to: LISA BERBERIAN

THE VERMONT BAR FOUNDATION AWARD is made possible through a grant from the Vermont Bar Foundation. It is given to two Legal and Justice Studies students who exemplify the spirit of the College and contribute significantly to the community. This year the award goes to: MATT SAMUELS and TERRY SILVA
THE JULIE RAE CARRIGAN MEMORIAL AWARD was created by the Carrigan family to honor the memory of Julie Carrigan, a 2001 Burlington College graduate, who touched many lives with her creative, compassionate and powerful spirit. The Julie Rae Carrigan Memorial Award is given each year to a returning student who, like Julie, is not afraid to use his or her voice on behalf of the planet, whether it is in the form of writing, art or community activism.Given to: MELISSA MAXFIELD
THE CHIP PATCH MEMORIAL AWARD is given each year to a new or returning student who, like Chip, exhibits a positive spirit, bright exuberance, and shows considerable skill and promise that can grow in the academic environment we provide at Burlington College.Given to: MICHAEL WRIGHT
THE NSB FOUNDATION AWARD is given to: NATALIE TACKE
THE VERMONT STATE EMPLOYEES CREDIT UNION AWARD goes to: TAMMY BOUSQUET
