From Roll to Wrap:
Summer Movie Boot Camp

Have you ever imagined yourself working on the set of a full-fledged film production? Well, here’s your chance! This summer, Burlington College is undertaking the production of a unique 30-minute narrative film shot on location in Lincoln, Vermont, with 15 lucky students taking over key production positions under the guidance of four film professionals. Participants were lodged at the The Old Hotel in Lincoln over the course of two full weeks of pre-production, production, and post-production and leading up to a public screening and celebration of the finished film. Boot campers utilized HD video cameras, dual-system sync sound, and edit on Apple’s Final Cut Pro system. Each student were assigned a position in the production that best suits their interests and the production’s needs.
Positions include: 1. Director. 2. Producer/Assistant Director. 3. Editor 4. Director of Photography. 5. Camera Assistant. 6. Gaffer/Grip. 7. Best Boy Electric/Grip. 8. Sound Mixer/Sound Designer. 9. Sound Assistant. 10. Casting/Costume/Make-up. 11. Art Director/Props/Set Dresser. 12. Art Department Assistant. 13. Stills Photographer. 14. Script Supervisor. 15. Location Manager.
Students worked together as a team under the leadership of filmmakers who bring to the production the benefit of years of experience making films. Each participant received an authored DVD copy of the completed project to add to their portfolio.

Pre-requisite: Non-matriculated students must be at least a high school senior, or entering their senior year in the fall 2009 term. Lab and usage fee: $800 includes overnight accommodations and meals. Students will be responsible for their transportation to and from Lincoln, Vermont. Students might also consider some personal funds to cover incidentals while on location. Enrollment limit: 15
